Product Information
- H-Lys-Trp-Cys-Phe-Arg-Val-Cys-Tyr-Arg-Gly-Ile-Cys-Tyr-Arg-Arg-Cys-Arg-NH 2 trifluoroacetate salt (Disulfide bonds between Cys3 and Cys16/Cys7 and Cys12)
- Tachyplesin I
Tachyplesin I is a large peptide that possesses antimicrobial activity and has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria. Tachyplesin I is a member of the tachyplesin family of antimicrobial peptides and binds to receptor sites on the surface of bacteria, which disrupts membrane function and leads to cell death. Tachyplesin I has been shown to be able to kill drug-resistant mutants in mouse monoclonal antibody production cells. This peptide also has an effect on hemocytes, which are immune cells found in invertebrates such as Drosophila melanogaster. These cells are involved in the process of blood coagulation, inflammation, and wound healing. Tachyplesin I's effect on hemocytes may be due to its ability to regulate mitochondrial membrane potential and cause phase transition temperature changes.
