Description:Oxytocin is a hormone that is released from the pituitary gland. It has been shown to have a variety of biological effects, including stimulation of uterine contractions, breast milk production, and social behaviors such as bonding and sexual behavior. Oxytocin has also been shown to regulate the release of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain. This effect may be due to oxytocin's ability to stimulate GABA receptors.
