2,6,10,14-Tetramethylpentadecane is a model system that can be used to study the genotoxic and disease activity of chemicals. This compound has shown to have an effect on autoimmune diseases such as chronic arthritis. 2,6,10,14-Tetramethylpentadecane has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth by binding to the DNA polymerase and blocking its function. The reaction mechanism for this compound is not well understood but it is believed that it may involve the action of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4). 2,6,10,14-Tetramethylpentadecane also has a phase transition temperature of -20 degrees Celsius.
