Tilianin is a bioactive phenolic compound that inhibits mitochondrial functions and is the most potent inhibitor of p-hydroxybenzoic acid in vitro. It has been shown to be effective against infectious diseases, such as tuberculosis. Tilianin has also been shown to inhibit the production of inflammatory cytokines in vitro, which may be due to its ability to inhibit toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) signaling. Tilianin's ability to inhibit TLR4 signaling may lead to the development of therapeutic drugs for coronary heart diseases.
