Beta-tocotrienol is a form of vitamin E that has been shown to have anti-cancer effects. It inhibits the activity of the methyltransferase enzyme, which is involved in the synthesis of fatty acids. Beta-tocotrienol also inhibits lipid peroxidation and scavenges free radicals. Beta-tocotrienol has been shown to inhibit tumor growth and induce apoptosis in cancer cells. The mechanism by which beta-tocotrienol induces apoptosis may be due to its ability to activate microglia cells and suppress inflammation in chronic kidney disease (CKD). Beta-tocotrienol also inhibits alpha-tocopherol oxidation and prevents lipid peroxidation.
