It is an organic compound that is biosynthesized by the hydroxylation of chrysanthemyl alcohol. The (+)-trans-chrysanthemic acid was synthesized in a stereoselective manner by reacting ethyl diazoacetate with sodium borohydride in methanol solution. (+)-Trans-chrysanthemic acid has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and can be used to treat inflammation caused by various stimuli, such as x-ray irradiation, UV irradiation, or phorbol ester treatment.
