Description:1,2,3,4-Tetrahydro-2,7-naphthyridine (1,2,3,4-THN) is a synthetic compound that can be made by the cross-coupling of an aryl halide with an organometallic reagent. It is used in the synthesis of polymers and as a precursor for pharmaceuticals. The reaction proceeds in two steps; first, deprotonation of the imine to form an enamine intermediate followed by intramolecular cyclization to produce 1,2,3,4-THN. This compound is hydrolyzed under acidic conditions to release methyl iodide and ammonia.
