It is an antioxidant that inhibits lipid peroxidation by scavenging free radicals. DL-a-Tocopherol acetate has been shown to inhibit the activity of protein kinase C, which plays a role in cancer, inflammation and apoptosis. This compound also inhibits the activity of toll-like receptor 4, which may be useful in treating infectious diseases, and scavenges anion radicals.
