Description:
Terephthalic acid monoamide (TPA) is a heterocyclic organic compound that is used in the synthesis of many other chemicals. It is an amide of terephthalic acid and an amine and has a carbonyl group. TPA is an agonist for protein kinase C, which is involved in inflammatory diseases, metabolic disorders, and protease activity. TPA also binds to the receptor for acetylcholine, which may be responsible for its effects on the nervous system. TPA can be detected by electrochemical detectors due to its ability to emit light when it interacts with water vapor.
