2,4,5-Trimethylaniline is an amine that is colorless or light yellow. It is used as a dye and has been shown to be mutagenic in vitro. 2,4,5-Trimethylaniline also has long-term toxicity and carcinogenic properties in vivo. 2,4,5-Trimethylaniline can cause acute renal failure and lung edema after ingestion or inhalation. Studies have shown that it can cause liver damage with prolonged exposure. 2,4,5-Trimethylaniline is a potent inhibitor of adenyl cyclase and blocks the production of cAMP from ATP at high concentrations.
