2,4,6-Trichlorophenol sodiumsalt is a chemical compound that is used in wastewater treatment. It has been shown to be an effective oxidizing agent and can be used to remove organic matter from wastewater. The Langmuir adsorption isotherm for this compound was determined using bacterial strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, and Bacillus subtilis. The kinetic data collected from the reaction mechanism was then used to calculate the rate constants for the reactions of 2,4,6-trichlorophenol sodiumsalt with activated hydroxyl groups as well as intermolecular hydrogen bonding. This chemical compound has also been shown to inhibit enzyme activities such as malonic acid reductase and succinic acid dehydrogenase in biological treatment systems.
