Tricine is an amino acid that is used in the formation of body proteins. It has been shown to have mitochondrial functions and antimicrobial properties. Tricine can be added to plasma samples or other biological samples as an inhibitor molecule to prevent the polymerase chain reaction from producing false-positive results. Tricine also has been used as a model system for studying the membrane receptor integrin, which is involved in many biological processes, such as cell adhesion, cell migration, and immune response.
