Description:

N,N,N',N'-Tetrakis(2-hydroxyethyl)ethylenediamine is a compound that has been used in the past as a chelating agent for removing heavy metals and radionuclides from water. It is also used as a scavenger of hydroxyl ions, which are responsible for the degradation of proteins and other biomolecules. The receptor binding sites of basic proteins have been shown to be susceptible to N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(2-hydroxyethyl)ethylenediamine. The chemical stability of this molecule has been demonstrated by FTIR spectroscopy, kinetic studies and tryptophan fluorescence quenching in vivo. Air entrainment is an important parameter in the treatment process because it increases the surface area for gas exchange. This product may be beneficial for people with high body mass index (BMI).
