Description

Tetradecanedioic acid is a fatty acid that has been used in detergent compositions to inhibit the activity of enzymes such as lipase and protease. It is a potent antagonist for these enzymes, with an IC50 of 0.1 mM, and it also inhibits the formation of malonic acid from succinic acid. Tetradecanedioic acid has been shown to be stable in the presence of potassium dichromate, hydroxyl groups, disulfide bonds, and acids. The compound forms stable complexes with other molecules because of its ability to form intramolecular hydrogen bonds. Tetradecanedioic acid can form stable complexes with nitrogen atoms due to its chemical stability.
