Description:
Trimethylpentane (TMP) is a hydrocarbon that is used as an industrial solvent and in the production of other chemicals. It can be prepared by alkylation of 2,2,3-trimethylpentane with an inorganic base or acid catalyst. TMP has been shown to have acidic functional groups and high oxidation resistance. TMP has also been shown to be resistant to chloride corrosion and is unaffected by the presence of molybdenum or zirconium oxide.
