N,N,N',N'-Tetrakis(3-aminopropyl)-1,4-butanediamine is a hydrogenation catalyst that is used in the production of polyurethanes. It is often used as an additive to catalysts such as Raney nickel and can also be used as a catalyst itself. N,N,N',N'-Tetrakis(3-aminopropyl)-1,4-butanediamine can be used to reduce the reactivity of unsaturated compounds by hydrogenating them. The hydrogenation process can be carried out using an acid or alkaline medium and can also be carried out using tetrahydrofuran (THF) as a solvent. This catalyst has been shown to work well with substances such as activated carbon, which is often used in the production of sponge filters.
