Description:Tetraphenylolethane glycidyl ether (TPOEG) is a ring-opening polymerization initiator that is used in the synthesis of polyethers. It can be synthesized by hydrolysis and subsequent reaction of glycolaldehyde with phenylmagnesium bromide. The protonation of the ethylene oxide group in TPOEG leads to an increase in its viscosity, which can be used for calibration purposes.
