It has been shown to inactivate benzyl isothiocyanate and allyl isothiocyanate, which are naturally occurring plant compounds with anti-cancer properties. Thioglucosidase from Sinapis alba (white mustard) seed also has an inhibition effect on endogenous thiols and sulfides. This enzyme has been shown to have high efficiency in the hydrolysis of glucosinolates and isothiocyanates.
