Description:
1,2,3,4-Tetrachloro-naphthalene is a chemical that belongs to the class of organic solvents. It is used as a pesticide and reacts with fatty acids in the liver, forming fatty acid esters. These esters are metabolized to reactive metabolites which may be responsible for its carcinogenic properties. 1,2,3,4-Tetrachloro-naphthalene is also metabolized by the liver into various metabolic products such as chlorinated hydrocarbons. The reaction mechanism of 1,2,3,4-tetrachloro-naphthalene has been studied using piperonyl butoxide as an inhibitor and fatty acids as substrates.
