Tetramethylammonium bromide (TMABr) is a hydroxide that is used in analytical chemistry to measure the concentration of glycol ethers, hydrogen tartrates, and other organic compounds. It reacts with metal hydroxides to form a salt. TMABr can also be used in wastewater treatment and nuclear DNA analysis. TMABr has a phase transition temperature of -30°C. The optimum concentration for TMABr is 0.5 M in an acidic solution at pH=2-3 with the presence of hydrogen bonding interactions.
