Thrombin substrate I is a surfactant that is used as a reagent and biochemical. It is used to detect calcium ions in the blood to investigate coagulation, which is a process by which blood clots form. Thrombin substrate I reliably detects calcium ions in the range of 1-500 nM when it is activated with an analyzer. The measurement method for thrombin substrate I involves the addition of this reagent to human plasma and then measuring the time taken for clot formation. This measurement technique measures the amount of activated thrombin substrate I that has been converted into prothrombinase by thromboplastin.
