Description:

4-tert-Butylpyrocatechol is a glycol ester that is a byproduct of the synthesis of methyl ethyl ketone. It has been shown to have biochemical properties and can be used as an experimental model for the study of transfer reactions in organic solvents. The reaction mechanism of 4-tert-butylpyrocatechol is not well known, but it has been shown to react with bacterial strain and produce reactive intermediates during toxicity studies. 4-tert-Butylpyrocatechol can also be used for wastewater treatment due to its ability to catalyze oxidation reactions. The use of preparative high performance liquid chromatography (prep HPLC) enables the separation and purification of 4-tert-butylpyrocatechol from other compounds in solution. This method allows for kinetic studies on the enzyme activities of 4-tert-butylpyrocatechol.
