Product Information

Name:
2,2,3,3-Tetramethoxybutane
Description:

Tetramethoxybutane is a chloride-containing synthetic compound that was first synthesized in the 1940s. It is an alkylating agent with properties similar to xanthates, although it is less reactive due to its higher stability. Tetramethoxybutane can be used as a nucleophile and has been shown to react with anilines and carbohydrates, and can be used for the synthesis of epoxyketones, including glycosylated epoxides. Tetramethoxybutane has also been shown to react with uronic acids and palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling methods have been developed for this purpose. Tetramethoxybutane has also been shown to be stereoselective in its reactions.
