Name:6-Trifluoromethyl nicotinic acid
Synonyms:
- 2-Trifluoromethyl-5-pyridinecarboxylic acid6-Trifluoromethyl-3-pyridinecarboxylic acid
Brand:Biosynth
Description:Trifluoromethylnicotinic acid is a synthetic compound that contains acrylonitrile and picolinic acid. It also has a trifluoroacetic acid group. Trifluoromethylnicotinic acid has been shown to induce cancer in cells of the human liver and colon, as well as inhibit colony-stimulating factor production in k562 cells. Trifluoromethylnicotinic acid is thought to have its effects by binding to the molecular target and inhibiting protein synthesis, leading to cell death. This drug also inhibits the production of chloride ions, which may be due to its ability to generate reactive oxygen species.
