• Description: 3,4,5-Trimethoxyaniline is a synthetic compound that is an intermediate in the synthesis of phenylacetic acid. It is a nonclassical nitrogen heterocycle with two amine groups and three oxygen atoms. 3,4,5-Trimethoxyaniline has been shown to have potent cytotoxic activity against human liver cancer cells (bel-7402) and human liver cells (human liver). Further studies into the mechanism of action revealed that 3,4,5-trimethoxyaniline inhibited nitrite ion reduction by tetronic acid and increased redox potentials. Computational molecular modeling also suggested that the nitrogen atoms in this molecule are involved in hydrogen bonding.
