Brand:Biosynth
Description:N-Trimethylsilylimidazole is an ionizing reagent used in the separation of proteins and other biomolecules. It reacts with hydroxyl groups to form a silylating agent, which reacts with amino groups in proteins. The reaction mechanism is thought to involve the formation of a complex between N-trimethylsilylimidazole and the amino group on the protein, followed by hydrolysis of the intermediate imidazolium salt. This technique has been applied in pharmacological treatment studies, as well as for analytical methods to detect human serum albumin domains using mass spectrometry. N-Trimethylsilylimidazole has also been used to study protein synthesis in human cells and urinary samples.
