Description

Trovafloxacin mesylate is an antibacterial agent that belongs to the class of fluoroquinolones. It inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to bacterial DNA, RNA, and protein synthesis. Trovafloxacin mesylate has been shown to be effective against many types of bacteria, including Gram-positive bacteria such as E. coli, S. aureus, and coagulase-negative staphylococci; Gram-negative bacteria such as H. influenzae; Mycoplasma pneumoniae; Chlamydia trachomatis; and Legionella pneumophila. Trovafloxacin mesylate also has anticancer activity in epithelial cells and hepg2 cells.
