Tris(2-methoxyethyl)orthoborate (TMEO) is a molecule that is expressed on the surface of a diode to form coatings. TMEO can be used as an organic solvent, hydrolysate, or inorganic reagent. It can also be used to form particle and reaction products with metals such as iron oxides and metal cations. The ligands on TMEO are able to bind with silicon, which can be patterned in order to control the properties of the material.
