2-Trifluoromethyl-2-propanol (TFMP) is a synthetic monomer that belongs to the group of polyatomic molecules. It is an electron-deficient compound that can be used for photochemical reactions, such as uv irradiation or chloride treatment, to yield methacrylates and acrylates. TFMP has been used in industrial processes to produce polymers with a variety of uses, such as covid-19 pandemic for use in the production of medical devices. TFMP is also used as a solvent in high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
