Description:Tanshinone is a natural compound that can be found in plants such as Salvia miltiorrhiza and Pueraria lobata. Tanshinone VI is a new tanshinone derivative that has been shown to have cardioprotective effects. It blocks the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) by inhibiting the activity of glutathione peroxidase (GSH-px). This compound also prevents calcium overload, thereby protecting against cardiac cells from injury caused by an infarction. The cardioprotective effect of Tanshinone VI has been observed in various experimental models and cell lines, including rat hearts and human cancer cell lines.
