4,4,5,5-Tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaphospholane 2-oxide is a chiral phosphine oxide that is used as a reagent in organic synthesis. It is often used to make the phosphonate ester 4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaphospholane 2-oxide by reacting with allyl chloride. 4,4,5,5-Tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaphospholane 2-oxide is also used as an anionic ligand in coordination chemistry. Mechanistic studies suggest that the elimination of HCl from the dioxaphospholane intermediate occurs via a two step process involving Grignard reagents and phosphines. The first step involves the addition of a Grignard reagent to one of the carbon atoms adjacent to a phosphorus atom in the dioxaphosphol
