Description:

L-Tryptophan ethyl ester hydrochloride is an antitumor drug that belongs to the class of hdac inhibitors. It is a prodrug, which is metabolized in vivo to picolinic acid, a potent antitumor agent. L-Tryptophan ethyl ester hydrochloride can be used to inhibit the growth of mesenchymal stromal cells and liver cells, as well as inducing apoptosis. L-Tryptophan ethyl ester hydrochloride has been shown to have potent anticancer activity in vivo in mice, inhibiting tumor growth and increasing survival time. It has also been shown to induce differentiation by suppressing proliferation and inducing apoptosis in leukemic cells from patients with acute myeloid leukemia.
