Toloxatone is a tricyclic antidepressant drug that belongs to the group of drugs with pharmacological actions similar to those of amitriptyline. It binds reversibly to the enzyme, liver microsomes, and blocks the function of the enzyme. Toloxatone has been shown to increase locomotor activity in rats and has inhibitory properties against chronic exposure to dextromethorphan.
