Product Information
- Benzaldehyde, 2,4,5-trifluoro-
2,4,5-Trifluorobenzaldehyde is a perfluorinated compound with a synthetic origin. It has been shown to be reactive towards nucleophiles and electron-deficient molecules. The asymmetric synthesis of 2,4,5-trifluorobenzaldehyde is achieved by the reaction of β-amino acid ethyl bromoacetate with sodium hydroxide in ethanol followed by photolysis of the resulting α-hydroxyketone. The photochemical properties of 2,4,5-trifluorobenzaldehyde have been studied and it was found that the compound exhibits selective absorption in the ultraviolet region.
2,4,5-Trifluorobenzaldehyde can be used for the synthesis of β-amino acid derivatives with various substituents at C2 position. Additionally, this molecule can be used as a building block for other organic compounds that are important in biomolecular research.
