Product Information
2-(TriMethylsilyl)pyridine is a nucleophilic molecule that can be used for cross-coupling reactions with palladium as a catalyst. This reaction is also known as the Heck reaction. The coupling of 2-(TriMethylsilyl)pyridine and an organic halide, followed by a reductive elimination, forms the product and regenerates the catalyst. 2-(TriMethylsilyl)pyridine can be reacted with any electron-deficient alkyl or aryl halide to form a new carbon-carbon bond. This process is used in organic synthesis to make complex molecules such as pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals.
2-(TriMethylsilyl)pyridine has been shown to react with amines, alcohols, and thiols at room temperature, but not with nitriles or carboxylic acids.
