Product Information
- Quinoline, 7-(Trifluoromethyl)-
7-(Trifluoromethyl)quinoline is a synthetic compound that has been used as an antimicrobial agent. It has been shown to be active against Gram-positive bacteria and Gram-negative bacteria, including multidrug resistant strains. 7-(Trifluoromethyl)quinoline inhibits the synthesis of DNA by binding to the bacterial 50S ribosomal subunit, preventing the formation of mRNA and protein. The molecular docking analysis showed that it binds to two different sites on the ribosome. One site is located on the peptidyl transferase center domain and another site is located on the ribosomal RNA binding domain. 7-(Trifluoromethyl)quinoline also inhibits cellular uptake of this drug by inhibiting protein synthesis in eukaryotic cells.
