Product Information
- 8-(Trifluoromethyl)Quinoline
8-TRifluoromethylquinoline is an antibacterial agent that inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the enzyme DNA gyrase. 8-TRifluoromethylquinoline has been shown to have a high potency against HIV and other viruses, as well as bacteria. It has a broad spectrum of activity that includes Streptococcus pyogenes, Staphylococcus aureus, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and Escherichia coli. The mechanism of action for 8-TRifluoromethylquinoline is not fully understood but may involve inhibition of DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV by binding to amines or benzylamine derivatives in the bacterial cell wall. This binding prevents the formation of an antibiotic-inhibitor complex with the enzyme cell wall synthesis that is required for cell wall biosynthesis, inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division.
