Description:

Triphenylphosphine selenide is a compound that contains the elements phosphorous and selenium. It is typically synthesized by reacting trifluoroacetic acid with diphenyl sulfoxide in the presence of silver ions. Triphenylphosphine selenide can be used to form stable complexes with alkylthio groups. The complexes are developable and can be used to produce images on X-ray film. These compounds also have antimicrobial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, an opportunistic pathogen that causes infections in immunocompromised patients. Triphenylphosphine selenide has been shown to exhibit anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT).
