Product Information
Tauroursodeoxycholic acid is a bile acid that has been shown to be effective in treating primary sclerosing cholangitis. It has been found to reduce neuronal death, apoptosis, and oxidative injury in cultured neurons. Tauroursodeoxycholic acid may also have significant cytotoxicity against cancer cells. Studies have shown that tauroursodeoxycholic acid binds to nuclear DNA and inhibits the transcription of certain proteins. Tauroursodeoxycholic acid can also inhibit the production of cellular calcium ions, which leads to cell death by apoptosis. This drug has been used as a biomarker for liver injury in biological samples such as blood plasma or serum.
