Tris(dibenzoylmethanato) Iron is a catalyst that has been found to be effective in the synthesis of peroxides. It is insoluble in water and reacts with hydrogen peroxide to produce chloride, hexane, and product synthesis. The reaction is exothermic, with a heat of reaction of −1,076 kJ/mol for the formation of iron chloride. This compound can be used as a diagnostic tool for peroxide and iron catalyzed reactions, with the chemical nature being preparative and alkylation.
