Tri-n-octylphosphine is a nanoparticle that is soluble in water. It is synthesized by the reaction of trioctylphosphine and sodium citrate to form stable complexes. The nanocrystals can be obtained by adding sodium carbonate to the reaction solution, which generates oxide nanoparticles with a diameter of about 20 nm. The quantum dots are used for wastewater treatment and have been shown to have synergic effects with other substances such as sodium chloride, EDTA, and hydrochloric acid.
