It is a colorless liquid that can be used in coatings and as a precursor to other fluorinated compounds. Trichloro(1H,1H,2H,2H-tridecafluoro-n-octyl)silane has been shown to have synergistic effects when combined with cationic surfactants and laser ablation techniques for microbial infection. This compound also has transport properties that are influenced by the presence of water vapor. Trichloro(1H,1H,2H,2H-tridecafluoro-n-octyl)silane is an inert monolayer on boron nitride substrates and has constant optical properties.
