Description:
2,4,6-Trimethylpyridine is a model system for the study of antimicrobial agents. It has been shown to be active against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. 2,4,6-Trimethylpyridine binds to the protonated hydroxyl group with coordination geometry p2. The nitrogen atoms are bound to two groups and form an amine group.
