Description

5,7,8,4'-Tetramethoxyflavone is a flavonoid with hepatoprotective and anti-inflammatory properties. This compound has been shown to be effective in the treatment of alcohol-induced liver injury. 5,7,8,4'-Tetramethoxyflavone also possesses insulin sensitizing properties that may be due to its ability to activate the PPARα response element. The natural product has been shown to be effective at doses as low as 10mg/kg body weight. The molecular weight of 5,7,8,4'-tetramethoxyflavone is 298.5 g/mol and it has four methoxy groups on the B ring.
