Description

Triptophenolide methyl ether is a natural product that has been used in China for more than 200 years as a long-term treatment for rheumatoid arthritis. Triptophenolide methyl ether inhibits the production of IL-2 receptor and IL-2, thereby inhibiting cellular activity. It also has an antiinflammatory effect, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandin E2 and nitric oxide. Triptophenolide methyl ether competitively inhibits the binding of tripterygium to its receptor and has also been shown to have anticancer activity against human cancer cells in vitro.
