5,7,4'-Trimethoxyisoflavone is a flavonoid with antioxidant properties. It inhibits the production of reactive oxygen species and prevents mitochondrial dysfunction by promoting mitochondrial biogenesis. This drug has been shown to inhibit the inflammatory response in vitro and in vivo. 5,7,4'-Trimethoxyisoflavone is structurally similar to biochanin A and other isoflavones. It has been shown to inhibit intramolecular H-transfer from trimethylsilyl group to hydroxyl group of biochanin A. This inhibition leads to demethylation of biochanin A and reduction of its antiinflammatory activity.
