It is also used as an additive in the production of polyurethane foam, due to its ability to inhibit oxidation catalysts. Tetracosane has been shown to have an anti-inflammatory effect on trigeminal nerve cells and can be used for the treatment of autoimmune diseases. This compound has also been shown to have transcription-polymerase chain reaction (PCR) activity and induces apoptosis in some strains of bacterial cells, such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
