N-[Tris(hydroxymethyl)methyl]acrylamide is a monomer of polyacrylamide. It is used in the preparation of polyacrylamide gels for electrophoresis of proteins, nucleic acids, and other biomolecules. N-[Tris(hydroxymethyl)methyl]acrylamide has been used as a substrate in assays to test hemolytic activity and binding constants. It also has shown to have growth factor activities when complexes with sodium carbonate or ternary complex formation are formed.
