- Taurochenodesoxycholic acid
Taurochenodeoxycholic acid is a bile acid that binds to the nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) and inhibits its binding activity. NF-κB regulates the expression of genes that are involved in inflammation, cell proliferation, and apoptosis. Taurochenodeoxycholic acid has been shown to protect mice from injury by inhibiting NF-κB activation and decreasing the expression of inflammatory cytokines. This agent also has hypoglycemic effects when given at low doses to pregnant rats and may be beneficial for patients with bowel diseases. Taurochenodeoxycholic acid is a natural product and can be extracted from ursodeoxycholic acid, which is found in intestinal bile juices. The optimum concentration for this agent has been shown to be 3 μM in cells that were treated with taurochenodeoxycholic acid. It is essential to use an analytical method that can detect taurochnodeoxycholic acid because
