Description

Triethyl methanetricarboxylate is a chemical compound that is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of picolinic acid. It is also used to synthesize ethyl diazoacetate and sodium salts. Triethyl methanetricarboxylate can be produced by the chain reaction of ethyl diazoacetate with sodium salts or fluorine. This reaction produces a viscous liquid with a high viscosity, which has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity. The synthesis of triethyl methanetricarboxylate begins with an asymmetric synthesis that involves transfer reactions between malonic acid and ethyl diazoacetate followed by a palladium-catalyzed coupling with triethylamine. The final product has been shown to have a number of nmr spectroscopic data including signals at δ 6.9 ppm, δ 7.6 ppm, δ 8.4 ppm, δ 9.2 ppm,
